Shot blasting drives media at the surface under compressed air. It takes rust, mill scale and old coatings off and leaves the part evenly cleaned back to bare metal, ready for whatever goes on next.
It is the heavier end of the blasting we do, and it suits wheels, brackets, suspension components and fabricated parts. The media is matched to the part, because what is right for a heavy steel bracket is not right for soft cast alloy, and getting that wrong shows up later as corrosion or coating lift.
All of it happens at our own shop in East Tamaki, blasting and coating both, so nothing has to go out and come back. Ring us or bring the part in and tell us what it is made of and what you want off it. Between shot blasting, sandblasting and vapour blasting there is a right process for most parts, and the one we pick decides how the coating sits on it afterwards.

What is shot blasting?
Shot blasting drives media at the surface under compressed air. It takes rust, mill scale and old coatings off and leaves the part evenly cleaned back to bare metal.
Is shot blasting the same as sandblasting?
They are both abrasive blasting, and the difference is the media and how hard it cuts. Our sandblasting uses compressed air and garnet, which cuts an angular profile and keys the surface for powder coating. The media is always matched to the part, because what suits a heavy steel bracket does not suit soft cast alloy.
Which blasting does my part need?
Tell us what it is made of and what you want off it. Between shot blasting, sandblasting and vapour blasting there is a right process for most parts, and the one we pick decides how the coating sits on it afterwards.
Can you blast and then powder coat in the same job?
Yes. Blasting and powder coating both happen at our shop in East Tamaki, so a part can go straight from one to the other without leaving the building. Say so when you drop it off and tell us the colour you are after.
How much does shot blasting cost?
Every job is priced on the item. It depends on the part, its size and the condition it arrives in, so we generally need to see it before we can price it.
