Motorcycle Powder Coating

Wheels, frames and engine covers, back to bare metal first

We do motorbike wheels, frames and engine covers, along with swingarms, triple clamps and the small brackets that go with them. Like everything we coat, each part goes back to bare metal first. Powder never goes over an old finish, because anything left underneath, like lifting paint, old lacquer or corrosion, will lift the new coat later.

Rubber, plastic and electronics can't go through the stripper or the oven, so they all have to come off before a part can be coated. Tell us whether your parts will come in already stripped down or in one piece, or ring us before you pull them apart. Threaded holes and the faces that bolt up are masked so no powder gets on them, and masking is also how we do clean lines and two-tones.

Cast alloy engine cases and covers can also be vapour blasted, if an even satin finish on the bare metal is the look you're after. Colours come from Dulux, Interpon and Prismatic Powders in the USA. There are 205 Dulux and Prismatic colours shown on this site, and over 6,500 Prismatic shades we can order in. Send up to six photos through the form below, or drop the parts in to 7 Neilpark Drive, East Tamaki, and we'll come back to you with a price.

Questions

Motorcycle Powder Coating questions we get asked

Can you powder coat a motorbike frame?

Yes. Frames are on the list, along with wheels and engine covers. Rubber, plastic and electronics can't go through the stripper or the oven, so they all have to come off first. Then, like everything we coat, the frame goes back to bare metal before the colour goes on. Tell us whether it will come in already stripped down or in one piece, or ring us on 09 636 6421 before you pull the bike apart.

Do you mask frame numbers and VIN stamps?

Yes, if you ask us to. Tell us when you drop the frame off, and point out the numbers or stamps you want kept clear of powder.

Can you do motorbike wheels?

Yes. Bike wheels go back to bare metal, then the colour you pick, the same as car wheels. The tyre, valve and any sensors have to come off first, because rubber, plastic and electronics can't go through the stripper or the oven. Send photos through the form on this page, or bring the wheels in, and we'll come back to you with a price.

Can engine covers and cases be done?

Yes. Engine covers can be powder coated in a colour. Cast alloy cases and covers can also be vapour blasted instead, which leaves an even satin finish on the bare metal. Either way, point out the gasket faces, sealing faces and threads when you drop them off, so they're kept clear.

Can you do two-tone or clean lines between colours?

Yes, with masking. One colour stops on a clean line where the next one starts. Tell us which parts you want in which finish when you bring them in.

What colours can I have?

Our site shows 205 colours from Dulux and Prismatic. We also use Interpon, and we can order from over 6,500 Prismatic Powders shades out of the USA. A screen can't show a powder properly, so ask to see a sample before you decide.

How much does it cost to powder coat bike parts?

The price depends on what the parts are, how many there are, what they're made of, their size and the condition they arrive in. Send up to six photos through the form on this page, or drop them in to 7 Neilpark Drive, East Tamaki, and we'll come back to you with a price.
